Clark County Public Schools has a new temporary leader.
The CCPS Board of Education voted to appoint Elmer Thomas on an interim basis during a special called meeting on Tuesday.
Thomas recently served as interim superintendent for Danville Independent Schools and was superintendent for Madison County Schools from 2013-18.
The board conducted interviews for the position during a closed session that last for little over two hours and indicated in a conversation with a Sun reporter after the meeting that it was looking for someone with experience to guide the school system as it begins the search for a new permanent superintendent.
The board and Dr. Molly McComas announced a “mutual parting” during a meeting on June 28. The two parties have come to a tentative agreement to release McComas from her contract, which the board ratified during the meeting.
