The annual Fourth of July fireworks at Lykins Park took place a day early on July 3 but that did not keep crowds from coming to see explosions light up the night sky.
A DJ, food trucks, foam and other activities got the festivities underway before the main event.
Social media rumors of a lost child at the event did cause some worry but Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue said in a phone interview with the Sun that the boy in question was “just wandering around” and was located thirty minutes after he was reported lost.
The sheriff said the best advice he can give for parents or guardians in that situation is to tell their younger charge to find a safe place to stay put in while adults looks for them.
