Most afternoons, the Cards’ track team is racing and pacing as they prepare for the season ahead.
At first glance, the relay teams look ready to hand-off the baton and the distance teams are doing 500-yard repeats to get into shape.
“Our first four meets, we have placed first or second in a field of six teams — so we are looking good,” Cards’ Coach Dodd Dixon said.
The hometeam shows some raw talent, strength and speed, Dixon contends, however, due to graduation and pandemics effects — which have affected all sports’ numbers — Cards have had to modify practices as things begin to return to normal. For those athletes who do not go on spring break next week, there will be 2-a-day practices.
“Goal for the next three weeks is to get in a short training cycle and perform well the Weekend of April 9,” Dixon said.
