GRC Boys Basketball
This week, the Cards built their record to 27-1 and extended their winning streak to 21 games. In a dominant 94-62 victory against Bracken County (21-7) in their home finale, Jerone Morton had 28 points while Tanner Walton contributed 26. Walton led the way with 14 rebounds as well. On Wednesday, they played Tates Creek (10-16) and came out with a 79-61 win in Lexington.
The Cards conclude their regular season on Thursday in Georgetown with a contest against Scott County (9-16). Afterward, they’ll start play in the 40th District Tournament at Montgomery County High School with a 6pm matchup against Bourbon County (4-21) on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
GRC Girls Basketball
On Tuesday, the Lady Cards (25-1) concluded the home portion of their schedule in a 62-40 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar (8-15). Against the Bulldogs, Brianna Byars led the way offensively with 21 points while Ciara Byars contributed with 16 points. The Lady Cards hit a total of eight three-point shots.
On Thursday, they head to Park Hills to end their regular season with a matchup against the highly-ranked Notre Dame Pandas (19-3). Afterward, they’ll start play in the 40th District Championship on Monday Feb. 21 st at 6pm with a game against Bourbon County (5-22).
