Orlando Reed, Jr., age 90, widower of Lucille Vance Reed of Winchester, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, at St. Joseph Hospital, Mt. Sterling, Ky. He is survived by 2 children, a daughter Marcia Hicks, Winchester, a son Timothy Orlando Reed (Teresa) Somerset,Ky; 6 grandchildren, Alyssa and Brandon (Holly) Hicks, Winchester, Shanda Smith,and Cassi Reed, Richmond, Ky., Hunter Reed, Berea, Ky. and Jake (Hali) Reed, Clinton, Ms.; one great-granddaughter, Callie Jo Smith, Mt. Sterling, Ky. He is also survived by one brother, Ray Reed, Louisville,Ky. and several neices and nephews. Mr. Reed was born Oct. 10, 1931 to the late Orlando and Ida Reed, Salyersville, Ky. He was a USAF veteran during the Korean War, part owner of Reed’s General Store and Service Station in Salyersville, a pipefitter with Local 577 in Portsmouth, Oh. and a Mason with the Salyersville Lodge. Most of all, Orlando loved the Lord and his life showed that to all he met. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Winchester, and during his lifetime he was active in church leadership roles and loved to sing and play his guitar in church. He was a devoted, loving husband and father, an avid hunter, fisherman, loved UK sports and reading the Bible and history in general. He loved helping his neighbor and special friend, John Sparks at the Farmers Market here in Winchester. A very special thank you to all our neighbors who have helped us during the past years at home. We could not have done things without you. Thank you to Clark Regional Med Center, Bourbon Co. Community Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Windsor Care Center, and St. Claire Hospice, Morehead. Your actions and kindness will not be forgotten. Services were held at Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, Winchester on Saturday, November 27 with Pastor Lee Cruise officiating. Burial in Clarmont Memorial Gardens, Mt. Sterling Rd., Winchester.
