Calling all thirsty zombies! Engine House Pizza Pub is sponsoring the first-ever “Zombie Pub Crawl” on Saturday in downtown Winchester.
“Kids always get to enjoy Halloween, and grownups don’t always get to enjoy the kid inside of them,” said Chad Walker, Engine House’s owner, about the inspiration for the event.
The event will also spotlight Main Street.
“We decided to organize a pub crawl event to not only bring together the downtown businesses, especially the restaurants and bars, but to showcase them,” Walker said.
Abettor Brewing, Engine House, La Trattoria, Loma’s, Mikki’s Irish Bar, and Wildcat Willy’s are on the route, but the exact order they are in will be a secret until the night of the event.
The crawl begins at 7:30 p.m. at the steps of the Clark County Courthouse, and each stop will serve a cocktail exclusive to it.
The maximum capacity for the crawl is 40 “undead,” and a ticket is required to go bump in the night.
Tickets for the crawl are $15. The cost includes a wristband, a route map, and a commemorative t-shirt.
All crawlers must be 21, and the price of drinks is not included in the ticket price.
There is also a ghoulish dress code.
“We are touting this as only the true zombies and the undead need apply,” Walker said. “We want everyone to be in costume.”
Ripped clothing, simulated open wounds, and gray face paint are not only welcome but encouraged.
The crawl is also an excellent way to get a quick sample of what each eatery or bar brings to the table.
“This is a great way to get a snapshot feel of each spot and what they have to offer,” Walker said.
He said that he hopes to sponsor another crawl if the one on Saturday is successful.
