Paul Edwin Mace, Jr., 73, husband of Judy Raney Mace, was born on January 3,1948 and passed away on September 13, 2021, after a brief illness. The son of the late Paul and Eleanor Mace, he is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jennings and Ruth Mace; sister; Evelyn Mace; niece, Sarah Mace (Jared Hayes);nephew, Warren Mace and great-niece Supattra Namnon. He is survived locally by a cousin, Jane Cheuvront and her family, as well as several cousins across the country. He is further survived by Raney brothers- and sisters-in law: Vicki Raney, Linda (Freddie) Lawson, Johnny (Cindy) Raney and Steven (Denise) Raney;nieces and nephews Brigette Raney McKinley, Cody Raney, Leslie Raney Stump, Collin Raney, Caitlyn Raney and great nieces and nephews,Dylan and Riley McKinley, and Ava, Quincy and Vivienne Stump.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother in law, Terry Raney.

Paul was a 1966 graduate of GRC and a 1970 graduate of UK with a degree in English. For 38 1/2 years, he was a lineman for South Central Bell/Bell South/AT&T where he enjoyed driving big trucks and climbing tall poles. In retirement he read widely, taught himself to play the guitar, became a backyard ornithologist and enjoyed the company of Judy, his beloved wife of 36 years. He was a gentle man,unfailingly kind and always willing to help. His sly humor made him a joy to be
around and his breadth of knowledge was often surprising.

Services will be Friday, September 17 at the Winchester Cemetery, at the Layne Pavillion. Visitation will be from 1-2pm (masks requested please), followed by a service at 2pm with Dr. Ed Mesta will presiding. Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Clark County Library, the Bluegrass Heritage Museum or the charity of your choice.
