After being put on hiatus due to Covid, the annual Winchester-Clark Chamber of Commerce Banquet returned to award local business leaders within the community for their achievements. 

“It’s really gratifying looking around and seeing so many familiar faces, but I’m also thankful to see so many new faces,” said Cindy Banks, the chamber’s executive director. “Your investment financially and the investment of our time allows this organization [the Winchester-Clark Chamber of Commerce] to thrive. You help my our community better and stronger. That’s what allows this community to exist. We are here to empower our 362 members through advocacy, networking and fostering that entrepreneurship spirit.”

Banks also applauded Clark County’s local businesses for continuing to persevere throughout the Covid pandemic. 

Winchester Mayor Ed Burtner was recognized during the event in celebration of his 70th birthday.

Award-winners at this year’s banquet include:

• Business of the Year: Thompson Catering and Special Events 

• Community Service Award: Tamatha Boyken with Creative Coffees Roastery

• Citizen of the Year: Rebecca Kissick, director of the Clark County Health Department 

• Director of the Year: Greg Yates, member of the chamber’s Board of Directors and community education coordinator for the Clark County School District

• Non-profit of the Year: Rose Mary C. Brooks Place, local assisted living and independent living facility

• Graham Johns Downtown Volunteer Award: Meredith Guy of MPG Architecture

• The Winchester-Clark Chamber of Commerce allows members to post job openings on the chamber’s website at winchesterkychamber.com. Starting Wednesday, Aug. 18, the chamber begins a three-part series for members through its website called “Digital Success for Small Businesses.”

• “The Clark County community has always been willing to help,” said Banks. “The chamber will continue to lend a hand assisting and promoting our local businesses.”
