It could be called the Slowest Two Minutes in Sports.

In fact, the jockeys/trainers in the second annual Wildcat Willy’s Derby Day Alpaca Race actually ran ahead of their tethered steeds, pulling them along down the famous Church Alley track while racing fans in brightly colored apparel and enjoying mint juleps and moonshine, watched from the infield (beer garden) and cheered.

The emcee, Christopher Benavides, also ran alongside the colts and fillies, alpacas and llamas, making a video with his smartphone.

The winner of the Derby was Show Me the Stimmy, which was the only alpaca among the top three; the other two were llamas.

All of the contenders in the race were raised at Foggy Bottom Farms in Madison County.

The band Custom Made Bluegrass performed on stage for the Derby after party.
