Reader supports school superintendent

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It has recently come to my attention that some of our Clark County school board members are trying to vote our current superintendent out of office.

First and foremost let me say, this would be the worst mistake if it were to happen. Paul Christy has a huge heart and genuinely cares about all students regardless of race, religion and monetary status. He sincerely wants the best education possible for all students, and not just a select few.

Both of my children attended GRC, and there’s no one I’d rather have in office than Paul. Anytime I had a concern, he was right there to help me without hesitation. Even before he became superintendent, for that matter. So for anyone wanting to say he doesn’t care about every single student, I will call you a liar to your face. This man gets up during bad weather, long before school begins, in his own vehicle, and drives our roads to make certain it’s safe for our kids, as well as the bus drivers transporting them.

As everyone knows we have been in the middle of a pandemic for quite some time now. This man has spent countless hours making sure our kids are safe, keeping them at home as much as possible, and then making sure the school is sanitized now that school is somewhat back in session. However, you still have the option for virtual learning at home. Then you see some of you people complaining about school not being mandatory full-time, and I just don’t get it.

Would you want a superintendent that didn’t care about your children’s education or what could happen to them during this craziness? I personally would much rather have someone that genuinely cares about my child’s health and safety rather than the money they would be obtaining from the state for my child being in that building. He would never put our children at risk for any reason. We are in the middle of a huge pandemic and yet he has done everything possible to keep our children safe yet well-educated. Things are far from normal right now for everyone, but he has done everything in his power to keep it as normal as possible. He’s doing a great job, too!

Clark County is the model that KDE wants to show other districts, yet you have someone wanting to get rid of the very man leading the success? Seriously? Are you really that stupid? That’s so degrading to Paul. To try and ruin his character and reputation says more about you than it ever will him. This type of treatment of an innocent person for someone’s own gratification is disgusting. It’s pathetic really. I think if someone wants to vote someone out of office, they should have proof of a valid reason, which they don’t, and not because they hold a grudge and are butt hurt. Seriously, grow up!

I seriously worry for Clark County if, in fact, they succeed with their vendetta. It scares me that just a select few can control a whole school system when it isn’t for the best interest of our students. In my opinion, Paul is the best superintendent that Clark County has ever had in office. His focus is the children, and that they all get the best education possible! It should be his choice to leave, when he is ready.

Ya know, I thought our board of education was against bullying, but it seems the board itself is made up of a few bullies. It absolutely makes me sick.

I will stand up for what is right, even if I’m standing alone! I have a voice and I am not afraid to use it! #teamPaul

Sincerely,

Kristina Hisle
