Virginia Gravett Wiseman passed away on Jan. 17, 2021, to be reunited with her Lord and Savior. She was born on March 27, 1928, in Clark County and grew up on a farm with Dewey and Alma Gravett and brother and sister, Lois and Ruth. The family were members of Allansville Baptist Church. As an adult, she joined First Baptist Church of Winchester, Ky., and was actively involved in children’s activities from nursery, choir, sunbeams, and Sunday School. She formed and lead a women’s Bible study. She was a faithful member of the Jean Bach Circle where she made life-long friends. She worked at Curlee Clothing in the office as a young adult. After her marriage to Johnny Ray, she enjoyed living and working on the farm with her family. She worked alongside her husband with tobacco and cattle all year and was a vital part of the family farm operation. In addition, she taught her children how to set tobacco and care for the cattle. She also worked as a booker for Lutes Electric and Dowell Body Shop. After her children were grown, she worked in the office at Farmer’s Tobacco Warehouse.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandsons and taking them on vacations including camping, boating, and trips to the ocean. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Johnny Ray Wiseman, her parents Alma and Dewey Gravett, her brother Lois Gravett, and sister Ruth McIntosh as well as many cousins of which she loved and cherished.She is survived by her children, Larry Wiseman of Clark County, Betty Herrin of Lexington, Ky, grandsons Alex Herrin of Lexington, Ky, and Clark Herrin of Munich, Germany, and numerous nieces and nephews. Due to COVID, a funeral will not take place at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church at 32 East Lexington Ave in Winchester Ky 40391 or a charity of choice. Remember to cherish the time you have with your family and to be kind to all you encounter along the way.
