GRC students named to Youth Salute

Thirty-seven students from George Rogers Clark High School are among hundreds of high schools in Central Kentucky recognized in this year’s “Youth Salute.”

Students were nominated by teachers, guidance counselors and principals for this year’s Youth Salute.

To qualify, the student had to be a junior (senior class of 2021), have a 3.0 GPA or better and have held at least two  leadership roles to which they were chosen by their peers or an adult leader within the past two years in school, religious or community sponsored organizations.

Hannah Christopher

Hannah Christopher is a member of the National Beta Club and the National Honor Society at George Rogers Clark High School, an assistant stage director at the Baker theater department and an assistant director of the Shearer Musical Theater. She is a vice president and historian of International Thespian Society Troupe 8842, a member of the Leeds Center for the Arts Youth Advisory Board, a fine arts cohort drama.dance major and a student at the Diana Evans School of Dance. She also volunteers with Special Olympics and is a Bronze and Silver Award recipient in the Girl Scouts.

She plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University and major in nursing.

Hunter Raney

Hunter Raney is a member of the National Honor Society, Buddies of the Bluegrass Club, GRC Speech team, GRC orchestra, GRC power lifting club, varsity cross country team and the varsity indoor and outdoor track teams. He is also a member of the Team Kentucky cross country team and an assistant coach for the Cardinal U6 travel tee-ball team.

He plans to major in civil engineering.

Jackson Feeback

Jackson Feeback is the junior representative to the GRC Student Council, a member of the National Honor Society, plays cello in the orchestra, a member of the Beta and Chess clubs and the speech team. He is a referee for Upward 40391 basketball and an umpire for Little League baseball. He is a worship leader for Colby Student Ministries and a participant in the Asbury university Youth Becoming Leaders program.

He plans to study pre-law at the University of Kentucky.

Janna Winburn

Janna Winburn is vice president of the Buddies of the Bluegrass club, dual president of the Spanish club, a participant in Leadership Advisory and a Beta Club member. She participates in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a member of the Elite and Extreme power teams. She is a teacher and role model at Studio One School of Dance and a member of the Youth Leadership Council for Clogging Champions of America.

Jared Wellman

Jared Wellman is the captain of the varsity basketball teal, vice president of the trivia club, and a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. He participated in the Leadership Program, won the outstanding achievement award in his freshman and sophomore years, and was twice a member of the all region and all district teams.
