James L. Barnett, 93, of Winchester, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, at his home.
Mr. Barnett was born on Dec. 24, 1926, in Clark County to the late Flossie Thomson and Jilson Barnett.
He served in the occupational forces of World War II in the 8th Army under Glen Douglas Mac Arthur.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for many years, where he served as lay leader, and later joined First Baptist Church of Winchester, where he taught Sunday School.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Reffitt, and his treasured son, Donald S. Barnett. Left to carry on his godly heritage are his beloved daughter, Pamela Brinson, of Hattiesburg, MS; his daughter-in-law Cynthia Blair Barnett of Ashland; his grandchildren, Cindy “Punkin” Barnett of Lexington; Steven Christopher Barnett of Florence; Rebecca (David) Turner, Matthew (Heather) Brinson, Jessica Brinson, and Hannah Brinson, all of Hattiesburg, MS; and his great-grandchildren Breanna Turner, Mycah Brinson, Hallie Brinson, James Turner, and Macie Brinson.
A graveside service and viewing was Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, at Winchester Cemetery by Bishop Al-Gwinn. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Sign the online guestbook at www.ScobeeFuneralHome.com.
