Jimmie Cole Chism passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020 with his family by his side in Redding, Calif. Jimmie was the son of the late Floyd and Jessie Chism. Jimmie left Winchester and joined the Air Force in August of 1961. He served 25 years and four months as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist C130 Aircraft Loadmaster and Contracting Superintendent. Jimmie was awarded the Meritorious Service Metal, Air Metal, Air Force Commodation Metal with two oak leaf clusters, Combat Readiness Medal, Service Ribbon with five oak leaf clusters, National Defense Metal, Vietnam Service Metal with one service star, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal. Leaving the Air Force in 1985, he became a correctional officer with the state of California until his retirement in 1994. Jimmie enjoyed life, playing softball, and finding treasures at garage sales. He dearly loved his family and always thought of them first. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan, daughters Coleen (John), Rebecca (Erik) and Kimberly (Jim); seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Bailey, brother, Wayne (Diana), and several neices and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at the Winchester Cemetery.
