Elmer Ulysses Smith, 69, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1950 in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Kelly O. Smith and Laura Bell Adams Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in Vietnam where he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star. He was a retired employee of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government and a member of the Gentile Pine Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by nine children, Elmer J. Smith, Latisha Fulz, Ulysses J. Smith, Ashley N. Smith, Shonna L. Smith, Jade Coleman, Frances M. Smith, Shawn Smith and Lee Smith; an honorary son, Anthony Grisby; fourteen grandchildren, Aalexus Smith, Morgan Smith, Laterrian Allen, Uriah Smith, Harley Slusher, Rayley Smith, Keonna Smith, KeShawn Smith, King Israel, Elijah Taylor, Makinzie Coleman, Jamal Coleman, Jaden Coleman, and Aubrey Williams; two brothers, Ruben Smith and Johny Smith.

Funeral service will be 1:00pm, Friday, July 17, 2020 at Scobee Funeral Home by Pastor Harold Burgess. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, 11:00am until time of service.
