Leona Neal White, 86, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2020 at the Compassionate Care Center.

Leona was the loving wife of the late Porter White; cherished Mother of Sarah (Tommy) Conkwright (with whom she made her home for the last 7 years) and Rosemary (Bob) Sparks; beloved Mamaw to four grandchildren, Carrie Conkwright (who has assisted her mother, Sarah, with loving and gentle care of her grandmother for the last four years), Clint (Heafher) Conkwright, Brigette (Daniel) McKinley, Grant Sparks and four great-grandchildren.

She loved her family so much and valued spending special times with them.

Leona’s passion was working in her flowers. She enjoyed digging and planting as she would anxiously anticipate the beauty and splendor of the Lord’s creation.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Neal and Ruth Snowden Neal Clem, her stepfather, John Clem, her brother, George Edward Neal and her sister, Gertrude Rankin.

Services will be held Thursday July 9, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home by Pastor Chris Williams. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers are Clint Conkwright, Grant Sparks, Bobby Jo White, Don White, Tommy Whalen and J.T. Rankin. Honorary Pallbearers are Carrie Conkwright, Heather Conkwright and Brigette McKinley and Daniel McKinley.

The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, nurse aides, social worker and chaplain at Hospice Care Plus and also the Compassionate Care Center.They extended such love, care and showed such compassion to our mother. Mama’s wish was to be able to stay in her home as long as she was able and they made that happen. They really were wonderful true-life angels.
