The novel coronavirus has claimed another popular annual event, the Clark County Democratic Party’s annual Wendell Ford Dinner.

Henry Branham, county chair, sent out an email Thursday saying that the Clark County Democratic Executive Committee had decided to cancel the dinner that had been scheduled for Aug. 24.

Branham said the dinner usually has about 100 guests, but COVID-19 restrictions limit meetings to 50 or fewer persons with physical distancing of six feet or more.

Finding a venue that would accommodate those requirements would have hard to do.

“It just presents a lot more challenges than we thought we could overcome,” Branham said in a phone call.
