The Clark County Health Department reported three more confirmed cases of COVID-19 Monday, involving persons ranging in age from 43 to 69 years.
“Two of these cases are linked to previously identified cases,” Clark County Public Health Director Becky Kissick said in an email. “Upon confirmation of the positive results, the health department began the process of contact tracing. Additional information cannot be provided due to medical privacy laws.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, the Health Department was working 31 active cases. In total, the county has had 51 confirmed cases.
Clark County has had a surge of new cases in recent days.
The county’s 48th confirmed case of the novel coronavirus Sunday afternoon, involving a 26-year-old man. That morning, they had reported another confirmed case, of a 54-year-old woman. On Friday, the Health Department had reported the 46th case, involving a 25-year-old woman.
Many of the recent COVID-19 cases have involved staff and residents at Fountain Circle, a Winchester nursing home. According to a daily recording from the home, as of June 1, 22 residents and 11 staff have tested positive for the virus in the past 14 days, including two staff members in the past 24 hours. There have been no deaths and no recoveries involving residents or staff from the coronavirus.
In his daily briefing Monday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced 214 new cases and eight deaths in Kentucky. The number of coronavirus cases in the state had now topped 10,000.
