Anna Boswell Taylor May, 93, died on May 5, 2020, in Nashville, Indiana.

She was born on December 8, 1926, to the late Virginia Boswell Taylor and Vernon Otto Taylor in Winchester, Kentucky.

A longtime resident of Winchester and member of the First United Methodist Church, Anna was from one of Clark County’s oldest families.

Anna was an honor graduate and valedictorian of Winchester High School and an honor graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College, Winchester. An English major in college, her children fondly remember her proofreading their writing assignments in school.

She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, and homemaker who loved reading and learning. Anna enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher, was active in the PTA and band boosters, regularly visited the Public Library, and loved animals of all kinds.

Anna was the widow of Ralph Gordon May, Jr., and is survived by their children: daughter, Patricia May Dunn (Merv) of Pacific Palisades, California, and son, Philip Gordon May (Lissa) of Bloomington, Indiana.

Other survivors include her four grandchildren: Andrew Patrick Dunn and Madison Laurel Dunn of Pacific Palisades, California; and Nicholas Gordon May and Zachary Howard May of Bloomington, Indiana.

Private graveside services will be held at the Winchester Cemetery. Scobee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Anna’s late husband.
