ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jerone Morton

Jerone Morton is a sophomore guard for the George Rogers Clark boys basketball team.
Morton is the Cardinals’ leading scorer at 17.8 points per game.
Morton helped lead the Cardinals to a 3-0 record last week with wins against Montgomery County, Breathitt County and Bourbon County. Morton was the leading scorer for the Cards in two of those three games and scored 60 points between the Cardinals’ wins.
QUESTION: What’s your favorite part about playing basketball?
MORTON: Getting wins with my team and making them better as well as myself.
Q: Do you have any athletes you try to model your game after?
M: I like to model my game after Paul George because he is great on both sides of the floor.
Q: What team goals did you set before the season?
M: Our main goal is to win the region to get to Rupp.
Q: Did you set any personal goals before the season?
M: Not really, just the team goals.
Q: What’s your favorite memory playing basketball?
M: Winning the district tournament last season.
Q: Who has had the most influence on your basketball career?
M: My dad and my AAU coach.
