GRC’s Robbie Graham has never lost to the Lady Hounds during his eight-year run as Lady Cardinals head coach. He’s 17-0 with 12 regular season wins and five wins in the district tournament.

The Lady Cards last loss to the Lady Hounds came in 2008.

But this is a different Paris team. They are 11-1 to start the season and were ranked fourth in the 10th Region in both the media poll and coaches poll.

The Lady Hounds are led by junior guard Zoe Strings. Strings averages 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game but has missed Paris’s last two competitions. If she does play against GRC, the matchup to watch will be Strings vs. GRC’s Kennedy Igo. Two of the 10th Region’s preseason first team players going head-to-head will be can’t-miss basketball.

It will be the second meeting between the two district rivals on the boys side. GRC won the first meeting 81-50 at home Dec. 20.

The Greyhounds have struggled to get in the wins column so far this season, starting out 3-7 with wins over Danville Christian, Burgin and McCreary Central. They are led by guards Ricqiece Washington and Caleb Johnson. Washington averages 20 points per game and Johnson averages 10.4, but Washington kept Paris in the game in the first meeting, scoring 18 points.

Jared Wellman led the Cardinals in their first victory over Paris, picking up 23 points on 9-10 shooting.

But it could be big man Lincoln Bush who brings the Cardinals a victory against the Greyhounds this time. Bush has been on fire of late, picking up double-doubles in four of GRC’s last five games. His recent performances have moved him to 15th in the state in rebounding.
