ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Braxton Martin

Braxton Martin is a sixth-grade basketball player for Robert D. Campbell Jr. High. Martin played a key role in the Cardinals big win over Georgetown on Thursday, scoring 14 points in the first quarter and playing relentless defense, creating easy opportunities for himself and his teammates on the offensive end of the floor.
QUESTION: What’s your favorite part about basketball?
MARTIN: My favorite part about basketball is knowing I’ll continue to improve my skills.
Q: Did you set any personal goals before the season?
M: To always try to do my best.
Q: Do you have any athletes you try to model your game after?
M: Kevin Durant
Q: What’s your favorite memory playing basketball?
M: My favorite memory is when I hit a buzzer-beater to win the game when I was playing travel ball.
Q: Who has had the most influence on your basketball career?
M: My dad, he’s always pushing me to be the best me I can be.

M: To win the championship together.
