We asked Justice Elementary students to talk about Thanksgiving.
Addison Ballard – third grade
What is Thanksgiving?
A day that you give thanks.
How do you make a Thanksgiving turkey?
First, I put water on it, some seasoning on it, then put it in the oven and then eat it.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?
Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and ham. Out of all those things, I like mac and cheese. I love mac and cheese.
What are you thankful for?
I am thankful for my family, God and everything I got and everybody in the world.
Saul Sebulsky – third grade
What is Thanksgiving?
It is a day of being thankful for other people and to give them something. Kind of like Christmas, kind of not like Christmas.
How do you make a Thanksgiving turkey?
You either go hunt a turkey or buy the turkey. If you go hunting, you have to kill the turkey then you get it and you have to take all the feathers out and then you have to put it in the oven. If you buy it from the store, then you just put it in the oven.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?
My favorite is a turkey, the bread, and usually the dessert after.
What are you thankful for?
My mom, my dad, my sister and everything on Earth and God.
Preslee Adams – second grade
What is Thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving has a thing where we all get around and we all have a good time. We all get together at my grandma’s house and we all eat turkey. We do not kill turkey because we don’t like dead animals. But my dad likes dead animals. He likes to eat deer. We buy it at the store.
How do you make a Thanksgiving turkey?
We go to the store, buy the turkey, take it back home… and then we get it out of oven and we don’t all cut it. We cut it, and then we eat it.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?
Turkey.
What are you thankful for?
Family, friends and animals.

It’s about thanks and when you thank, you give other people food when they run out.

Yeah, so you cook it first before you eat it. You put it in the oven, and you cook it.

It’s a happy day that you need to thanks.
How do you make a Thanksgiving turkey?
Put it in the oven and cook it. If you bake it, it’s going to taste weirder.

Turkey because I ate it here at lunch before, and it was super good.

I like have a thousand legos, and I’m thankful for those.

What is Thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving is something where you spend time with your family and get to visit your family that doesn’t live with you and you get to celebrate spending time with your family.
How do you make a Thanksgiving turkey?
I make it from scratch.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?
My favorite Thanksgiving food would be pumpkin pie.

I’m thankful for my family, my friends. I’m thankful for school. I am thankful for God and Jesus.

Thanksgiving is somewhere where we celebrate and where we remember to be thankful and remember all the good things.
How do you make a Thanksgiving turkey?
First, you would go hunt for it or something like that. Bring it home, put it in oven, take it out and cut it up and eat it.

Thanksgiving is a time where we sit down and give thanks for what we are thankful for.
How do you make a Thanksgiving turkey?
This is how my mom does it: She puts it in the oven, puts it on high, maybe for 20 minutes and then she puts seasoning on it and then we eat.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?
My mom’s mashed potatoes.
