GRC girls soccer recognizes performance on field, in classroom

George Rogers Clark’s girls soccer team held their annual postseason banquet to recognize the team’s accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom last Thursday.
Twelve awards were given to varsity players for their on-the-field efforts:
110% Award – Julia Pohl; Cardinal Award – Allie Eury; Most assists – Shelby Vaughn; Most goals – Delaney Manning; Offensive POY – Allie Bush; Defensive POY – Caitlin Fike; MVP – Carrie Stevens; Sportsmanship – Carly Deboer; Coach’s Awards – Talen Spargo, Autumn Scott, Autum Brinegar, Ciana Araya; McKenna Hatchett/Rachel Sutherland Memorial Award – Caitlin Bowling; All 10th Region Team – Shelby Vaughn, Caitlin Fike, Julia Pohl, Caitlin Bowling, Leslie Hernandez, Allie Bush, Delaney Manning; 10th Region Offensive POY – Delaney Manning
The Lady Cardinals also had nine players who made Academic All-State first team: Adyson Shortridge, Emma Taylor, Ruthie Houston, Rylee King, Olivia Durphy, Julia Pohl, Leslie Hernandez, Caitlin Fike and Carrie Stevens.
The junior varsity team handed out five awards for on-the-field performances as well:
Most goals – Emma Taylor; Most assists – Nicole Davis; Offensive POY – Nicole Davis; Defensive Player of the Year – Lilly Franklin; MVP – Chesney Burchett.
The team also had 19 players make the Academic All-State Honorable Mention list: Erin Yates, EA Nisbet, Kendall Barnes, Winter Brinegar, Carlyn Ross, Ella Martin, Autumn Scott, Allie Bush, LeLand Gilkison, Rivers Gilkison, Julia Milton, Elizabeth Brothers, Autum Brinegar, Lakyn Griffith, Caitlin Bowling, Talen Spargo, Delaney Manning, Chesney Burchett and Nicole Davis.
