Once on the field, they were greeted by each of their teammates and families.

The loudspeaker played each of the boys’ future plans as well as favorite memory as Cardinals as they walked to the front of the field with their families.

Each player received a personalized picture board as well as a gift bag.

“The senior class always seems to want it a little bit more,” first-year head coach Nicholas Vogler said. “Those four guys are no different.”

After the ceremonies, the Cardinals were set to play their second-to-last game of the regular season against the Frankfort Panthers.

A slow start put the Cardinals in a 2-0 hole in the first half.

But with five minutes to play in the half, Taylan Hayes got GRC on the board to head into the locker room down one.

Nathan Sidwell was able to level the score with another Cardinal goal 10 minutes into the second half.

Eight minutes later, Brandon Beltran scored a goal to give the Cards their first lead with 20 minutes to play.

Skyler Hamon was able to put the game out of reach with another GRC goal with eight minutes to play, extending the Cards lead to 4-2.

The Cardinals are hosting into the 39th District Tournament next week. The first round of games will be Oct. 8th starting at 6 p.m. and the championship game will be Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. All games will be played at the new GRC field.
