GRC beats Russell 6-0 in first home game since Sept. 3

The 10th Region-leading George Rogers Clark Cardinals boys soccer team played their first home game after playing seven consecutive games on the road on Saturday morning.
The Cardinals took on the Russell Red Devils at the new Cardinal Stadium, where they were 1-0 entering the game.
The first half saw a near deadlocked game with GRC’s Emidio Figueroa scoring the lone goal, giving the Cards a 1-0 lead entering the break.
The Cardinal offense got it going in the second half, scoring five goals.
The first coming from Tyree Brown on a Brandon Beltran assist.
GRC’s Skyler Hamon was able to put two consecutive goals in the net, including a penalty kick that saw the Russell goalkeeper get a red card, taking him out for the final 20 minutes.
The final two goals were both scored by Beltran, both coming in the final five minutes of the contest.
Beltran’s second goal came from an assist from Nathan Sidwell.
GRC is back in action tonight as they host the Frankfort Panthers at 7:30 p.m.
