The Robert D. Campbell Junior High School football coach announced his resignation Monday, citing personal and health reasons.
Tony Lanning was named the head coach of the Cardinals in the spring after being named the offensive line coach for George Rogers Clark High School football.
His status on the high school football staff remains unclear as of press time.
Lanning, a 1994 graduate of George Rogers Clark High School and a member of the school’s Class 4A State Championship team in 1991, played at Campbellsville University and began his coaching career at Clark in the 2010-11 season. He also coached at Magoffin High School from 2016-18.
Ken Howard, Campbell Jr. High School athletic director, said RDC assistant coach Bob Howard will take over as head coach for the remainder of the season.
The Cardinals just wrapped its regular season Thursday, beating Woodford County, and will head into playoffs next week, Howard said.
