After starting the season blazing hot with a 4-0 record, George Rogers Clark boys soccer had three of their last five games either canceled or rescheduled.
The weather, plus a stretch of road games and tough opponents, has cooled off GRC.
The Cardinals traveled to Montgomery County Thursday night without a loss on their record but weren’t able to come home without one.
A double-overtime thriller ended with the Indians nailing a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box.
GRC’s freshman phenom, Brandon Beltran, scored a goal and had an assist to junior Nathan Sidwell.
Junior goalkeeper Tayman Hayes had a busy night, piling up 16 saves in the contest.
GRC is still ahead of the Indians in the 10th Region standings, where 5-0-0 Harrison County sits atop the chart. The Cardinals are second with a 4-1-1 record.
The Cardinals are back on the field Labor Day when they make up the game against the Corbin Redhounds. The game is set to take place at the field next to Strode Station Elementary and will kickoff at 7 p.m.
