Mt. Zion Christian Church will host national Christian recording artist and Grand Old Opry performer Wade Hammond on Sunday.
Hammond will be leading the service for Minister Kenny Speakes of Mt. Zion Christian Church.
“It’s rare that we would be able to book somebody of this caliber,” Speakes said.
Hammond has had three No. 1 hits on the official Inspirational County Music Charts: 2012’s “Bitter Harvest,” 2013’s “I’ll Stand Up for the Cross” and 2015’s “Don’t Forget to Pray.”
While coming up to record with JayDee Miller, Speakes says Hammond came to Winchester to record some new music and wanted to do something in the community while in town.
Speakes will hand over his congregation to Hammond for the service to share his testimony with the them and speak “about going through the storms of life,” he said.
Services will begin at 10:10 a.m. at Mt. Zion Christian Church, 3631 Combs Ferry Road.
