A basketball camp tradition in Winchester will continue next month.
The annual Dwain Gay Basketball Camp is set for July 23-25 at Norton Gymnasium. The camp is for children in grades 1-8 and will be 9 a.m.-noon each day.
The camp has become a popular fixture in Winchester and Gay, a former standout at George Rogers Clark High School, is looking forward to continuing the annual hoop get together.
“This has been an annual camp that I’ve done for many years,” he said. “As soon as school ends I start getting asked, ‘What’s the camp dates this summer?’”
Gay said the camp will emphasize all phases of basketball for each camper.
“It’s a very fun camp that emphasizes sportsmanship, foundational skill development and plenty of controlled team play,” he said.
“Our main goal is that each camper will have a great experience, which in turn, will increase his or her passion to become better and enjoy doing it.”
The cost of the camp is $60 per child and a family with more than one camper in the family will receive $10 off for each camper if registered before July 19. Each camper will receive a T-shirt.
Applications are available at All-Star Sports and Hibbett Sports.
