Clark County Fair in full swing

Clark County’s littlest residents kicked off the fair festivities Saturday for the first round of pageants.

Baby pageants A and B, the Duke-Duchess and Prince-Princess pageant, and the Little Miss and Mister pageant were the first pageant events for the 71st Clark County Fair & Horse Show.

The winners of the Little Miss and Mister competition move on to compete at the state level in August.

Pageants continue tonight at competitors compete for the highest titles of fair week, Miss Clark County and Miss Clark County Fair, at 7:30 p.m. Contestants must be ages 16-21 and will compete in interview, one-piece swimsuit and evening gown categories. Awards include overall winner, local winner, a first-, second- and third-runners up as well as Miss Congeniality and Best Smile awards.

Carnival rides also officially kick off today; the fairgrounds open at 5 p.m. and rides begin at 6 p.m. and usually go until about 11 p.m. Admission is $10 and allows attendees to ride all rides.

Also tonight is the Open Goat Show at 6 p.m.; the Ag Hall of Fame at 7 p.m. and the ATV and Truck Drag at 7 p.m.
