Just peachy: Farmers market opens for season

Hundreds showed out for the first farmers market of the season, buying cucumbers, peaches, meat and more.
The Winchester-Clark County Farmers Market officially opened for the season Saturday
The market will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon on Depot Street, off North Main Street in downtown Winchester. Depot Street will close to through traffic during market hours.
Beginning June 18, the market will also open Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m.
Julie Staton, farmers market vendor, told The Sun about 27 vendors are participating this year. Vendors range from fruits and vegetables to honey, flowers, coffee, lamb, beef, soap, woodworking, wine and more.
Kid’s Day is June 1, and during that time, about 200 children will receive free Kids Bucks, which they can use to buy food on a future visit. Various nonprofit groups will also be at the market that day to provide activities.
Other special events include the Vegetable Festival which is July 6 and the BBQ Festival which is Aug. 3.
Closing day for the market will be Sept. 28.
