Big first inning propels Cardinals past Lexington Sayre

The George Rogers Clark High School baseball team scored five runs in the fourth on its way to a 9-2 victory over Lexington Sayre on Thursday.
Cardinal batters contributing to the big inning included Ethan Neal, Jarrett Blakemore, Dakota Puckett, and Brady Turner, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Caden Easterling got the win for Clark. He allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out 11.
Daniel Clinkinbeard took the loss for Sayre. He went three and a third innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking zero.
Clark racked up 15 hits in the game. Turner, Neal, Chase Scobee, Easterling, and Blakemore all collected multiple hits.
Neal and Turner each collected three hits to lead the Cardinals.
Ben Trammell went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Sayre in hits.
Softball
The Lady Cardinals’ softball game at Pendleton County was canceled Thursday.
