Carolyn Young, senior support services associate with the Clark County Health Department, was recently recognized as the Administrative Support Staff of the Year by the Kentucky Public Health Association.
This award seeks to honor an individual who has made outstanding contributions in the field of administrative support for public health.
Young has dedicated 28 years to public health service in Clark County.
Each day she projects a warm, cheerful attitude toward patients, her co-workers and community members.
In the health department, she is the first face the public sees; therefore, she often faces with difficult situations and individuals who are under a significant amount of stress, but she consistently handles every situation with admirable patience and remarkable tact.
Co-workers spoke of her ability to deal “lovingly” with those demonstrating “unlovable” behaviors and her ability to diffuse irate situations with calmness, composure and poise.
She loves people, works hard and always tries to lift the spirits of those around her. Whenever asked to perform extra tasks, no matter how great or small, her response is consistent: ”I will do my best!”
Her genuine desire to help “one and all” symbolizes the ideal for which the Clark County Health Department stands.
