Crews wrapped up construction Thursday on Fairfield Park’s new playground, and Deborah Jackson said neighborhood children are excited and ready to play.

Jackson, director of programming and marketing at Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation, announced the new playground last week.

The Fairfield Park Playground build used grant funding from the Clark County Fiscal Court and improvement funds from WCCPR.

Crews began construction Wednesday, and thanks to good weather were able to finish the Little Tikes playground, located on Arlington Street, a little ahead of schedule.

Jackson said the park had not had a play structure in it for several years. The park also offers a basketball court, playing field with a backstop, a swing set, a jungle gym and a shelter.
