— Self-defense class, 6:30 p.m. at Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation College Park Gym. Join backcountry skills instructor Craig Caudill from the Nature Reliance School to learn about avoidance, awareness and physical defense strategies of self‐defense.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8

— Winchester Rotary Club meeting, noon at Woody’s, 923 Bypass Road. Speaker is Bo Harris, co-owner of Clark County Child Development Center.

— Knights of Columbus Lenten fish fry, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Menu includes fish, hush puppies, cole slaw, twisty taters and a drink. Cheese pizza will be available for children. Homemade clam chowder will be available for $10 per quart or $4 per bowl. Meal is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 for children.

— Mommy and Me Princess Party, 10 a.m. to noon at Calvary Christian Church, 15 Redwing Drive. Party is open to girls ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers. Dress in your best princess attire. Snacks and crafts will be provided. Every child who registered by March 7 will receive a flower crown to wear at the party and take home. Cost is $15. — AARP income tax preparation assistance, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church annex, 101 W. Lexington Ave. Service is free for all taxpayers through the AARP Tax-Aide Foundation. Taxpayers should bring their previous year’s return and all documentation for 2018 income, proof of taxes paid and contributions required for those who itemize. The program is Mondays and Tuesdays through April 15.

— Healthy Choices for Every Body Series, noon at the Clark County Extension Office. The Healthy Choice for Every Body series is designed to educate the whole family with new ways to eat healthily and exercise for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Each lesson of this series will include a recipe demonstration and tips on topics such as meal planning, eating better on a budget, and weight management. There will be drawings and prizes for participation. Preregistration is required by calling the extension office at 744-4682. Taught by Nutrition Education Program Assistant Sandy Kennedy.
