Senior defensive end Hunter Dunn signed Wednesday to the University of the Cumberlands to continue his football and academic career.
He plans to major in health and physical education.
Dunn said he picked UC because the environment made him feel at home.
“The atmosphere is what got me hooked,” he said. “The people there made me feel special.”
Dunn said he is not going to rush anything when he gets on campus, but he will take it one step at a time.
“I’’m just going to embrace the opportunity I’ve been given.” he said.
He said winning a championship would be a big part of him having a successful freshman year.
“I want rings,” he said. “That’s all I want is some rings.”
Dunn is confident he’s got the skillset to help his team win.
“I bring diverse athleticism to the team,” he said. “I can bring the word of God to the team which will help us. Most importantly, I have heart and will do whatever is necessary to help the team get better.”
Dunn said making the All-State Team was his proudest achievement in his high school career.
Dunn learned it is important to show good character on and off the football field.
“One thing I remember is to never quit,” he said. “Someone is always watching so it’s important to stick to working hard because it will show one day.”
