Ruthie Houston puts a green straw in the grande ultra caramel frappuccino before sliding it across the high-top table to her sister.

Olivia Houston, 10, adds another green straw to the dark caramel coffee frappuccino, takes a sip and passes it back to Ruthie, 13.

The sisters move to a couple of lounge seats by the window in Winchester’s new Starbucks location, between Caudill Dive and Applebee’s, and take turns sipping the drink, watching the layers of whipped cream infused with cold brew, white chocolate and dark caramel dwindle as their mother, Nora, tastes a shot of a Nitro Cold Brew.

The family was one of more than a hundred customers to visit the Starbucks during its grand opening Thursday.

Construction began in summer 2018 on the 2,200 sq. ft location.

Store Manager Dylan Siegrist said the Starbucks team is excited to serve Winchester.

“We’re excited to embrace the Winchester community that’s been looking for a drive-thru Starbucks for quite some time,” Siegrist said.

The new location is open seven days a week, from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
