James Winston Lawwill Sr., 89

James Winston Lawwill, Sr., 89, widower of Nancy Carol Moore Lawwill, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Clark Regional Medical Center.

A native of Clark County, KY, he was born on June 1, 1929, to the late John and Estella Hollearn Lawwill. He was a retired truck driver, member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Lawwill was a Scoutmaster of Troop 54, recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and the James E. West Fellowship Award.

Survivors include two children, Connie (Harold Duvall) Lawwill and James W. Lawwill, Jr. (Stacy Shimfessel); six grandchildren, John Lawwill, Wesley Lawwill, Jacob Lawwill, Rebecca (Charles) Ernest, Robert Prater and George Prater; great grandchildren, Amity Smith; great-great grandchild, Nova Dawn Smith; brother-in-law, Charles “Bud” (Linda) Moore; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Lawwill; and five sisters, Clara Lawwill, Juanita Lawwill, Cordelia (Dee) Monroe Williams, Alma Louise Taulbee and Eulah Jean Lawwill.

Services will be at 10:00AM, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Eric Patterson, and Rev. Tammy Smith. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Bailey, Stephen Pittman, Steve Hollon, David Frye, Mike Reed, Benton Barrett, Chris Barrett, Gene Strode and Bill Horseman. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Rose Mary Brooks Place, Glenn White, Jimmy Little, S.M. Anderson, George Hall and Bernard Smith.

Visitation will be Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Scobee Funeral Home.
