On Saturday, September 22, 2018, Elizabeth Jane Hurst, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 88.

Betty was born on August 18, 1930 in Maysville, KY to Jane and John Worthington.

She retired from IBM with 34 years of service and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She loved working in her rose garden and loved to read romance and mystery novels. It was never odd to visit and be given a bag of books that she had already read and wanted to share.

She was admired for her strength and drive. She was tough but fair and very loving.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Harold P. Hurst, and Daughter-in-law Sandra Hurst.

She is survived by her four children, Cheryl Puckett (Steve), John C Carpenter (Sarah), Gerald Hurst (Grace), Harold Hurst II. Granddaughters, Jauna Carpenter, Janna Campbell, Missy Segress, and Kathrine Hurst. Grandsons, Eric Carpenter, Harold Hurst III, Travis Carpenter, Austin Carpenter, and Michael Hurst; several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00PM at Scobee Funeral Home and funeral 2:00PM, Thursday, September 27, 2018.

Burial will be in Clarmont Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers are Eric Carpenter, Travis Carpenter, Austin Carpenter, Michael Campbell, Cordell Joseph Carpenter, and Jonathon Tyler Gardner.
