The complaint against Stuff Recycling, its land use and zoning will get a full hearing before the board of adjustments later this month.

Thursday evening, the Winchester-Clark County Board of Adjustments was scheduled to discuss a complaint against Stuff filed by resident Tresa Bridges.

When neither Stuff principal Jerry Joiner nor their attorney of record could attend, the board allowed Bridges alone the speak about her complaint.

“That business should be the size you said it should be,” Bridges said. “That is an agricultural and residential area.”

A special meeting for that hearing was tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 27.  A location has not been determined.

Stuff Recycling, on Lexington Road, was allowed to exist on its current location with a business B-4 zone following a 2012 decision by the Board of Adjustments to grandfather it in. There was an affidavit from the property’s previous owner that he had recycled automobiles and metal there for years.

The condition on Stuff, though, required that its business not expand in scope or area. Stuff is also interested in buying another 12.5 acres on Clintonville Road for additional storage and wants it rezoned to B-4.

The Winchester-Clark County Planning Commission tabled action on the zoning request until after the Board of Adjustments makes a decision.
