Why so much attention via media coverage of U.S. Sen. John McCain’s anticipated death and memorial services? Let’s relish the healing last week’s events might yield to our citizenry.

One cannot deny much of our country hungers for truth, honor, character and integrity of governance in 2018.

McCain sought to diminish our burgeoning “tribalism” in the ceremony of his death. He put country first, before political party.

As a moderate Democrat, I often respected McCain’s inclusive actions and legislative initiatives above the absolute partisanship displayed by Kentucky’s representation in Washington.

Our votes count. Eventually, we may make Kentucky proud again of our voices on the federal stage.
