Blessing of the Backpacks

Blessing of the Backpacks will be at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 2410 W. Lexington Ave. All students, teachers and school staff are welcome. Bring backpacks and briefcases for a special blessing.

Service for addicts at Epperson FCOG

Epperson First Church of God will host a service to help those struggling with drug addiction at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Guest speakers will be Kentucky State Police Sgt. Bret Kirkland, state Rep. Evangelistic Outreach Ministries, 8 N. Bloomfield Road, will have a gospel singing featuring Karl Barns and Friends at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11.

Food pantry at First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St., will open a food pantry in partnership with God’s Pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday at the church. The pantry will be open to those in need and for donations from the community. For more information, call the church at 744-6624.

Services at First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Services at First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Worship will be lively and traditional. Come dressed casual or formal, but more importantly, come expecting to be moved by the Spirit. Sunday school classes for children, youth and adults begin at 9:30 a.m. Sundays.
