The first day of school, Aug. 15, is less than a month away.
With that in mind, parents, students and teachers are preparing every way they can with Back-to-School events such as open houses around the district, Clark County Public School’s Operation Registration and more.
Readifest is one-way parents and students can get Back-to-School items for cheap or for free.
The annual Readifest will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Winchester campus.
The community donates items to help students start the new school year. There will be inflatables, games, school supplies and more.
The event is sponsored by the Clark County Family Resource Centers and Youth Services Centers of Clark County Public Schools, with support from Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Winchester and Clark County agencies, businesses, churches and residents, according to a news release.
The Paint Bar, located on the corner of Main Street and Cleveland Avenue, is also celebrating the back-to-school season with a special class at 6 p.m. July 31. Teachers can come with a design in mind or pick from the several options available such as a pencil, crayon box, notepaper pad and more. The options can be found on The Paint Bar’s Facebook page.
Winchester’s College for Technical Education’s Cosmetology Program is offering exclusive discounts to students and teachers 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. during July 30 to Aug. 3 as part of their Student and Teacher Appreciation Week. CTE is located on Bypass Road, next to Walgreens. There will be $2 haircuts, $2 eyebrow wax and 50 percent off color services for teachers. Goody bags will also be available for students, and teachers will be entered to win a product-filled basket.
