Cameron Dove had no doubts in his decision to play baseball at the University of Pikeville as he signed on Tuesday at GRC.
Dove decided to keep the family tradition going by joining his brother, Peyton, who is a sophomore at UPike and is also on the baseball team.
“My brother goes there,” Cameron said. “I love playing ball with him.”
Dove is confident he can make an impact on the team next season and help his brother lead the Bears to victory.
“When I went there for a visit they told me I could be some good help to them,” he said. “When I play with him it just feels like we’re a dynamic duo.”
Besides baseball, Dove has his eye on the newly-built optometry school in Pikeville.
“They built a new optometry school down there,” Dove said. “I want to be go into optometry, I want to be an ophthalmologist. I just think it’s a good university for me.”
Dove is aware he may face challenges during his college career, but he is committed to staying focused.
“I kind of just let things past me,” he said. “I don’t let things get me down and I just move on with life. I try to live it to the best of my ability.”
Dove has made it clear why he stuck with baseball and what led him to be the player he is today.
“My brother inspires me to do anything I can,” he said. “He makes me work hard and I just do my best for him.”
