All Star Sports, located on Bypass Road, is celebrating 25 years in operation. At the same time, the staff is gearing up for future expansion under new leadership.
Teresa Reffitt Fraley purchased All Star Sports April 1, and while she retained the store’s staff and services, she has been working to increase All Star’s offerings moving forward.
Fraley said she had been looking to purchase a sporting goods store, and All Star has been a good fit.
“I have been a photographer for more than 20 years,” she said. “I did team and individual sports photography, and that led to doing trophies, medals and plaques.”
All Star does in-house custom laser engraving and designing for teams and other organizations and businesses in Clark County and beyond, including the Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce and numerous churches.
The store has also increased its retail offerings, stocking the building with uniforms, equipment, hats and T-shirts.
“We picked up the local teams, like high school and junior high, and are about the only place you can get local sports merchandise,” Fraley said.
She said a recent fashion trend the store has seen has been a resurgence in letterman jackets.
“They’ve made a comeback with the high school students,” she said. “This year we’ve sold 75 letterman jackets. That’s amazing.”
Fraley attributes part of the store’s retail success to the fact she and other employees have gone out to promote the store’s new offerings. She said in the future, All Star will focus more on promotion and sales.
All Star is also in the process of completing an online store through E-commerce. Fraley said the website has been designed, but is still being populated with all the items and should be ready to launch in February.
Through all the changes, Fraley has maintained her photography business as well, and offers individual and team photos.
“When I do sports photos, I like to make a large print and hang it in the store so people who come in can see the members of the local team they know.
All Star Sports is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
