Students at the College of Technical Education Cosmetology School are prepping for the school’s presentation of its annual hair and fashion show, this year titled “Colors.”
The show is an end-of-the-year celebration that incorporates all of the school’s students, instructor Terry Nelson said.
The students work in teams to create a theme and hair and makeup design around one color.
At the show, which will take place at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at Robert D. Campbell Junior High School, the designs will be shown by models who have several minutes to show off the look as they do a performance related to their theme.
“Some of them will have multiple models, but only one model in each will be judged,” Nelson said. “And what’s being judged is the hair and makeup, so you don’t have to go spend a lot of money on costumes to win.”
Lead Instructor Shawnda Miller said the idea behind the overall theme of “colors” is about bringing together people who are different, because humanity is at its most creative when working together.
“Last year I brought Broadway to Winchester,” Miller said. “This year, I’m bringing ‘Colors.’”
Admission to the show is free.
