One of Winchester’s newest businesses opened its doors with the goal of having quality clothing for everyone, regardless of gender or size.
Bourbon and Blush, located at 7 W. Lexington Ave. next to the Engine House Pizza Pub, opened its doors last week just in time for the Holiday Hop.
According to owners and Winchester natives Monica Hughbanks and Kristy Weistroffer, it was a spur-of-the-moment decision to start the business.
“I had a really bad day at work,” Hughbanks said. “I called Kristy and said ‘I’m done, let’s start our own business.’”
Weistroffer, a respiratory therapist, said she has always wanted to own a retail store, but she never found the opportunity to do so until now.
The partners found their location and started renovating and designing their store in October, and doors opened to the public Nov. 9.
The two said their goal in starting Bourbon and Blush was to offer clothing for both men and women and have a wide variety of sizes.
“No matter what size you are, we want you to feel beautiful in your clothing,” Weistroffer said.
Hughbanks said she and Weistroffer chose a location downtown because they wanted to be a supportive part of the business community there.
She said portions of the store’s stock come from local and other small businesses, and Bourbon and Blush is trying to be part of a larger effort to keep downtown Winchester an inviting place for people to come.
In addition to clothing, Bourbon and Blush offers shoes and jewelry.
Bourbon and Blush is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
