Forest Ray Abney, age 76

Forest Ray Abney, age 76 of Winchester, KY. died Saturday, November 4, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on October 18, 1941 in Winchester, KY, the seventh son of Rev. Rupard Bee Abney and Verlie Mae (Bivins) Abney. He attended the Landmark Baptist Church in Winchester, KY. He was an honorary aide-de-camp to the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He is a retired long haul truck driver and past owner of Forest Abney’s Moving & Storage, Tampa, FL.

Survivors include his wife, Karen A. Coffman Abney of Rochester, New York; his ex-wife, Dixie Lee Poyndexter Abney of Oxford, OH; sons, Michael Ray Abney of Winchester, KY. and Bryan Abney of San Francisco, CA; daughters, Rita (Carl) Johnson of Oxford, OH and Kimberley Abney of Oxford, OH; sister, Virginia Mae Browning of Winchester, KY; brothers, Charles Edward (Juanita) Abney of Winchester, KY, James Russell (Helen) Abney of Lebanon, OH, John Carlton (Sylvia) Abney, Sr. of Lebanon, OH; sister-in-law, Judy Abney of Lebanon, OH. He has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ruhama (Marshell) Sidwell of Mason, OH and Georgia Lee (Warner) Watts of Winchester, KY; brothers, Richard Eugene (Ruth) Abney of Winchester, KY, Rupard B. (Hazel) Abney of Winchester, KY and Roy Lee Abney of Lebanon, OH; his grandmother, Cloe Ahra Moore of Oxford, OH.

Services will be at 2:00PM, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Scobee Funeral Home by Bro. Jimmy Muncie. Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and cousin, Benny Abney.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00PM until time of service.
