A Winchester man facing more than 20 charges related to possessing sexually explicit images of minors pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday.
Vincent Gray, 20, of 419 E. Washington St., was arrested Oct. 26 after Kentucky State Police detectives executed a search warrant at his residence.
On Wednesday, Clark District Judge Earl-Ray Neal entered an automatic not guilty plea for Gray and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Nov. 8. A public defender was also appointed to represent Gray.
According to the search warrant filed by KSP Detective Leslie Strong, the state police received a tip in August from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning an explicit image which was posted in an Internet chat room.
Through the investigation, detectives tracked the IP address used to post the image to a Time Warner customer at 419 E. Washington St.
The chatroom’s records showed an account using that IP address was active when the image was posted in June.
On Oct. 26, officers searched the residence and took a cell phone, a laptop computer, two tablets and a hard drive into custody for further examination.
Gray was arrested and charged with 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and one count of distribution. Each count carries a sentence of one to five years in prison upon conviction.
Gray is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
